Kari Rollins
Kari is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in Sheppard Mullin’s New York office. Kari focuses her practice on data privacy and data security, and complex commercial litigation matters. Kari has successfully represented clients before state and federal courts, as well as in front of state attorneys general, federal regulators, and U.S. and international commercial arbitration forums. She brings her significant litigation experience to her internal investigation practice. And she is regularly called upon to handle data breach investigations and response for her clients. To that end, Kari manages all aspects of incident response for her clients, and assists them in determining if the facts in their cases gave rise to a duty to notify under data breach notification laws and advises them post-investigation in handling any litigation or regulatory inquiries arising from the breach. Notably, she currently sits on the drafting team of The Sedona Conference WG11 on Data Security and Privacy Liability, which is responsible for drafting The Sedona Conference Incident Response Guide, a practitioner’s guide to navigating the law and issues relating to preparing for, managing, and responding to data breaches. Most recently, Kari brought her experience to the classroom as an adjunct law professor at DePaul University’s College of Law in Chicago, teaching a course on data breach law. |
