Judge Shah is a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois. Before his appointment to the court in 2014, he was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois for over 12 years, and served as the Chief of the Criminal Division for two years. Judge Shah started his career as an associate at a large law firm in San Francisco, CA, and served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel (N.D. Ill.). He received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
