Mathew heads the Technology and Data Protection practice group at Spice Route Legal and is the founding partner at the firm. He has over two decades of experience in assisting some of the largest global players with devising complex legal strategies - straddling a mix of data protection and technology matters. He is widely acknowledged as one of India’s leading data protection lawyers and spends much of his time advising clients on Indian regulation – including the new DPDPA – and ubiquitous international data laws such as the GPDR and the CCPA. He is the only lawyer in India who advises on both contentious and non-contentious tech and data mandates.  He specialises in data strategic data commercialisation, data transfer, security and data breach issues. Mathew’s clientele includes some of the largest technology, media, and telecoms giants, India’s largest financial services companies, some of the most innovative healthcare and life sciences companies, and some of the most innovative startups.
