Richard Carden
Richard is the managing partner of McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP (“MBHB”), an intellectual property boutique in Chicago, where he has practiced for 16 years. He has spent the bulk of his career litigating and trying patent, trademark, and trade secret cases in a variety of venues. Over the years, Richard has written about and presented on such issues as international pharmaceutical litigation issues, willfulness in patent litigation, amendments to the Federal Rules related to e-discovery, and privacy issues in patent litigation. He previously served as the Information Technology partner at MBHB, where he dealt with privacy and cybersecurity issues, as well as spending several years in charge of litigation support for MBHB. Richard recently obtained a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe designation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals. He has also been a frequent participant in and presenter on intellectual property issues at Renaissance Weekend, a retreat for thought leaders in a variety of industries. In addition to his work with Working Group 1, Richard has been involved in Sedona’s Working Group 6 on International Electronic Information Management, Discovery and Disclosure; and he recently joined Working Groups 9 on Patent Damages and Remedies and 10 on Patent Litigation Best Practices. |
