Richard S. Schweiker Jr.
Rich is Chief of the Consumer Protection Section of the Virginia Attorney General’s Office, where he supervises enforcement of state and federal consumer protection and antitrust laws as well as the Attorney General’s consumer complaint-handling and dispute resolution services. The Consumer Protection Section includes a team of approximately 30 attorneys, paralegals, investigators, dispute resolutions specialists, and intake specialists. Among other duties, the Consumer Protection Section is responsible for handling consumer complaints, investigations, and enforcement actions under Virginia’s Consumer Data Protection Act, which became effective on January 1, 2023. Rich is a graduate of Duke University (A.B., 1989) and the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D., 1992). He joined the Antitrust and Consumer Litigation Section of the Virginia Attorney General’s Office in 1996 and was promoted to the position of Senior Assistant Attorney General in July 2000. In January 2016, Rich was named Chief of the Consumer Protection Section. |
