Hon. George O'Toole
George A. O’Toole, Jr., was appointed United States District Judge for the District of Massachusetts by President Clinton on May 26, 1995. He assumed senior status on January 1, 2018. Prior to joining the bench of the District Court, Judge O’Toole served as an Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court and the Boston Municipal Court. Before that he was engaged in the private practice of law as a litigator with the Boston firm of Hale and Dorr, now WilmerHale. On the national level, Judge O’Toole has previously served as a member of various committees of the Judicial Conference of the United States. He has been a frequent participant and presenter at educational panels sponsored by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, the Federal Judicial Center, law schools, bar associations, and similar organizations. He is also a member of the Alan D. Lourie Boston Intellectual Property American Inn of Court, currently serving as its president. Judge O’Toole is a 1972 graduate of the Harvard Law School. He earned his baccalaureate degree from Boston College in 1969. |
